Bok Extendable Dining Table — Solid Oak or FSC® Teak, with a Hidden Butterfly Leaf
- Ethnicraft’s signature Bok table, extended to bring even more people together. Combining sculptural elegance with exceptional craftsmanship and intelligent functionality, the Bok Extendable Dining Table retains the graceful silhouette that has made the design iconic. Inspired by the gentle curves of a goat's horns, its airy form offers a sense of lightness while providing outstanding strength and stability.
Crafted from premium solid European oak or FSC®-certified solid Indonesian teak, the Bok Extendable Dining Table celebrates the natural beauty of solid wood, developing a rich patina over time that enhances its character.
Designed for effortless versatility, one end of the table smoothly extends to reveal a concealed internal butterfly extension leaf, allowing you to accommodate more guests while preserving the table’s elegant proportions when closed.
Most finishes are protected with natural hardwax oil, allowing the surface to be lightly sanded and re-oiled when needed, helping to preserve its beauty for years to come. Selected finishes are protected with a durable varnish, offering enhanced resistance to everyday wear and stains. While varnished surfaces require a different refinishing process, they provide excellent long-term protection with minimal maintenance.
Ethnicraft's commitment to quality and sustainability is reflected in every piece. Designed to last for generations, the Bok Extendable Dining Table is made from responsibly sourced timber and created with longevity, refurbishment, and circularity in mind. More than just a dining table, it is an investment in timeless design, everyday functionality, and enduring value.

Ethnicraft Bok Extendable Dining Table - FAQs
How does the Bok extendable work?
This piece brings the convenience of a hidden butterfly extension system. One end of the table extends to reveal a concealed internal leaf — pull the two halves apart and the leaf rises and unfolds to fill the gap, so you can seat extra guests in seconds and bring the table back to its everyday size afterwards. The extension panel is 80cm wide, and the leaf stores inside the table, so there’s nothing separate to keep.
What woods and finishes is it available in?
Two woods across four finishes: solid European oak in three finishes (hardwax oil or varnish), and solid FSC®-certified Indonesian teak in one natural finish.
What’s the difference between the oak and teak versions?
Both are solid hardwood and both develop a rich patina over time. The oak is European, offered oiled or varnished; the teak is FSC®-certified Indonesian and comes natural — unfinished, so it ages to its own character. The oiled finishes can be sanded and re-oiled; the varnished finish is durable and low-maintenance.
What sizes does it come in, and how many does it seat?
Five sizes, each shown as closed/extended length: 120/180, 140/220, 160/240, 180/280 and 200/300cm (90cm or 100cm wide depending on size). As a guide, a 140cm table seats up to six and extends to seat up to eight at 220cm, with the largest size seating up to twelve.
Is it solid wood?
Yes — solid European oak or solid FSC®-certified Indonesian teak throughout, not veneer, so it can be cared for and refinished over the years rather than replaced.
Is the teak sustainably sourced?
Yes — the teak is FSC®-certified, meaning the timber is traced to responsibly managed forests. The whole Bok design is made from responsibly sourced timber, with longevity, refurbishment and circularity in mind.
Does the natural teak need any treatment?
The natural teak comes without any finish or protective treatment, to show off the material’s own character. See our natural-teak care guide for how to maintain it.
Can it be sanded and refinished?
The oiled finishes can — the surface can be lightly sanded and re-oiled when needed, which helps preserve it for years. Varnished finishes use a different refinishing process but give excellent long-term protection with minimal maintenance.
Does it match other pieces in the Bok collection?
Yes — it pairs with the Ethnicraft Bok dining chair and the Bok stool, and sits within the wider Bok collection, so you can build a coordinated set.
Can I see it in person in Ireland?
Yes — the oak version is on display in our Cork showroom, with samples of the other finishes so you can see and feel all the options before ordering. We also offer free video consultations if you’re outside Cork.
How long will I be waiting?
The Bok is made to order, so it takes approximately 4–6 weeks from order to delivery. We place your order with the manufacturer once it’s confirmed, and you’ll only hear from us before then if the timeframe changes.
Do you deliver and assemble it?
Yes — free delivery and assembly are included across the Republic of Ireland on orders over €399 (except for Ulster). Our logistics team will contact you to arrange a date and time. Tight access or stairs? Let them know — tell us about any steps, narrow doorways or tight corners, and measure doorways, hallways and stairs for larger pieces. We only deliver on the ground floor, save for bedroom pieces.
Can I pay a deposit?
Yes — you can pay in full, or start your order with a 50% deposit and pay the balance before delivery. When your order reaches our warehouse we’ll email you, including any remaining balance, and full payment is needed before delivery is booked.
Pairs well with the Ethnicraft Bok Dining chair or the Bok Stool.
